This program has struggled over the years. With Lehi being low on funds, many coaches have quit in the middle of the season to pursue more lucrative programs. This has led to discouragement and a broken program. Kati Marsing, the current head coach, came in in 2016 when the team had lost yet another coach midseason. She then called me to help assist. Since then, the program has grown from two coaches and 16 members to a staff of four coaches and 30 members. This growth in just three seasons is incredible. Last year, the Pionettes di the impossible and made it clear to the State Finals competition, and then placed top 5 amongst some of the best teams in the state. This was unheard of in this sport. Teams never moved up that fast. However, hard work and dedication can bring impossible results.
This year, the Lehi Drill Team wants to not just place at State, but they have their eyes set on winning state. They have also qualified to compete at the Nationals competition in Florida. This has not been done in nearly 10 years! While all of these goals are incredible, they also cost money that the program doesn’t have on their own. For this reason, the team is asking for businesses and the local community to get involved and become Pionette sponsors. This involvement will not just help this program buy costumes, but help them accomplish these huge goals. If a business were to become a sponsor they would receive benefits throughout the year in the form of free advertisement, admission into sports events, Pionettes gear and multiple social media shout-outs on the Lehi Drill Team Instagram page that has a 3,000 person following.
All of this is meant to help these young, dedicated athletes achieve their dreams of competing on a Nationals stage. These moments will last a lifetime and carry with these girls throughout their lives. The Lehi Pionettes are excited to welcome and accept their sponsors for the 2019-2020 season.
